The Heritage School, Kolkata · Class of 2027
Hi, I'm Ayaan Syed Imam. I find who the market leaves out, then build the way in.
Two published papers in quantitative finance before Grade 12. A 1.29-million-loan study of disability bias in credit. A wristband that turns a whistle into a vibration. Three years of adaptive sport for 400 children. School Captain. This site is the evidence, linked.

In short
One thread, four strands, every claim linked.
Everything I have done in the last four years pulls in the same direction, so here it is on one screen: who I am in a paragraph, what stands out, what I am still working out, and the four strands the rest of this site follows. Every claim links to the paper, the code, the letter or the page where it lives.
In one paragraph
I build the model that finds who the market left out, then I build the thing that lets them in.
I am Ayaan Syed Imam, a Grade 12 IB student and School Captain at The Heritage School, Kolkata. My research and my service are the same project. I published two papers before this application cycle: M-ROLL, a regime-switching portfolio model in IJFMR, and a rare-earth supply-shock classifier in an ABDC-indexed journal that called both 2025 Chinese restrictions about 28 days early from free data. The third paper came from a turf. Coaching 400 children with disabilities every week at Prayatna, I kept asking what happens to them at 25, and I answered with a 1.29-million-record study of disability-correlated exclusion in credit scoring. The same instinct built a Hinglish voicebot for a microfinance recovery team, a wristband that turns a referee's whistle into a vibration, and three letters of intent from employers. This year I won an eight-way captaincy election, ran Youthopia for 3,000 people and $70K, took first prize at Young India Innovates for the wristband, and donated two assistive tools to the Academy of Skill Development. The tension I am working through: whether the best use of a quantitative mind is to beat the market or to widen who gets into it.
What stands out
- Published quantitative research, two papers in journals before Grade 12
- A builder's record: four working systems in production or tested, with code public
- Scale in service: 400 children a week, 800 at one event, 110 schools on Filibot
- Elected leadership with numbers: 800 voters, $70K raised, 3,000 attendees
What I am still working out
- Quant finance or development economics: the applications argue these are one field
- Competitive sport ended by Kienböck's disease; the energy went into designing games others can play
- Breadth across economics, CS and biology internships, held together by one question

Start with
My disability-credit paper. It is the hinge between my quant work and my service work, and it started with a question from the turf.
Scale
400 children a week for three years, 800 at Aashayein, 110 schools, 1.29 million records, 1,556 trading days. The numbers are in the first line of every page.
Selectivity
ABDC-indexed journal, AIR 1 nationally, IEO national AIR 20 with a team interview, gold at SEAMO and ASMO, first prize at Young India Innovates 2026.
Tension
Kienböck's disease ended my three national-level sports. The same year I began designing games for children with disabilities.

In order
How it happened.
The through-line is my wrist. Competitive sport ended in Grade 9; the coaching, the question, and then the papers followed.
Grades 6 to 9
National-level sport
I competed in basketball, badminton and tennis at national level, and served as Assistant Prefect.
Grade 9 to 10
Kienböck's disease, and Mitra Robotics
A wrist diagnosis ends my competitive play. I start machine learning at Mitra Robotics Academy and begin coaching at Prayatna.
Grade 10
ASMO gold, and a first paper
I represent India at the Asia Science and Mathematics Olympiad, and write the disability-credit paper after asking what happens to the children I coach.
OpenGrade 11
M-ROLL, Filibot, the voicebot, the wristband
I publish M-ROLL, build Filibot with Cheenta for 110 schools, intern at Bargach, Ardent, Pharmint and Galamad, direct the tech fest and place AIR 20 at the IEO national round.
OpenGrade 12
School Captain, Youthopia, rare earths
I win the captaincy, lead Youthopia 2026, publish the rare-earth classifier in an ABDC-indexed journal, place AIR 1 at FISO, win first prize at Young India Innovates for the wristband, and co-lead Aashayein 2026 for 800 children.
